Why Dogwood

Most dogs spend their daycare day in a small indoor space. At Dogwood Lodge, they spend it outside — in over 6,600 square feet of supervised play space, with dogs they're compatible with, doing what dogs actually love to do.

We're primarily an outdoor play facility. Dogs socialise, run, explore, and tire themselves out properly. On days where it gets too hot or too cold, we bring everyone into our air-conditioned and heated boarding room so they're always comfortable.

Playgroups are matched by size and temperament — so your dog is always with the right crowd. And our team watches everything, all day, with trained eyes.

🛝 All pens have slides — a firm favourite with the regulars. Dogs use them to rest, play on, or just survey their kingdom from above.  ·  Balls are available in every pen but are never thrown by staff — this keeps play calm, happy, and safe.

From drop-off to pick-up

Here's what your dog's day actually looks like at Dogwood Lodge.

6:30am
Early doors open
Our earliest arrivals come in from 6:30am. We accept dogs all day long — hourly, partial day, or full day — so drop-off works around your schedule, not the other way around.
Morning
Into the pens
Each dog is assessed and placed into their matched playgroup — Pen 1 for larger dogs, Pen 2 for smaller ones. The day starts with plenty of outdoor play, sniffing, socialising, and the kind of energy burn that only comes from real space.
Midday
Lunch & rest
Some dogs come with lunch — though honestly, most daycare dogs have absolutely no interest in eating. They'd rather be back outside. For those who do eat, we feed them in a calm space away from the group.
Afternoon
More play — or a quieter pace
As the afternoon rolls on, tired dogs get moved to the smaller flex pens for a calmer, quieter environment. Others keep going strong. We read each dog individually and manage their day accordingly.
Hot or cold days
Inside when needed
When it's too hot or too cold outside, everyone moves into our air-conditioned and heated boarding room. Comfort is never compromised — we watch the weather closely and act early.
Until 6pm
Pick-up time
Pick up any time before closing — 6:00pm weekdays, 5:30pm weekends. Dogs who aren't collected before closing stay overnight at the boarding rate. Your dog goes home happy, tired, and ready for a good sleep.
